S’pore government works with hotels to provide accommodation for TTSH-averted healthcare workers – Mothership.SG
What is being done to help affected employees at Tan Tock Seng Hospital face discrimination?
This was the broad question posed to parliament by Jurong GRC MP Tan Wu Meng.
Tan said he had heard of nurses who had been told by owners to move out on short notice, healthcare workers who couldn’t find a “catch or a cab” to take them home afterwards. work.
Health Minister Gan Kim Yong agreed that this was a “worrying trend” and should not be forgiven.
This, Gan said, was part of the struggle they faced, because if they did not tolerate these actions, they were concerned for the welfare of healthcare workers and had to find ways to support them.
Gan revealed that the Ministry of Health and the multi-ministerial task force are working with hospitals to provide support to affected workers.
They are negotiating with hotels to provide alternative housing for workers who have been affected.
Gan said, however, that this should not be an excuse for owners to kick these workers out on the grounds that there are alternatives.
He also urged Singaporeans to show their support for TTSH’s healthcare workers.
