Seeka will invest in housing for seasonal workers in Katikati

New Zealand production company Seeka has announced that it will build new Recognized Seasonal Employer (RSE) accommodation housing 140 people in Katikati, located in Sharp Road, replacing existing facilities.

The purpose built accommodation will greatly increase the number of people that can be accommodated in the area and includes two leisure lounges and modern amenities such as wifi.

Michael Franks, Managing Director of Seeka, said: “Our CSRs are highly valued and have been a great help during the labor shortage throughout the kiwifruit harvest and more recently our operations. of orchard. It is important that we provide them with quality living conditions for their time with us. and this project will provide them with a comfortable home away from home.”

Franks explained that the upgrade had been planned since 2018 but had been delayed due to uncertainty surrounding the CSR program.

Franks said these workers supplement the 800 permanent employees and 4,500 seasonal workers the horticulture company needs each year.
