Exclusive: First look inside the new QT Newcastle, opening April 2022

QT Hotels and Resorts offered a first look inside the highly anticipated QT Newcastle, due to open in April 2022, exclusively on HM.

The property will be New South Wales’ first regional hotel for the designer collection and will bring style to Newcastle’s revitalized East End.

QT Newcastle is located in the 113-year-old World Heritage David Jones Building on Hunter Mall and is hosted by exciting and rapidly growing developer Iris Capital.

The property will include 104 guest rooms and suites, public spaces and private reception areas, as well as a signature dining concept that has yet to be revealed and a rooftop bar with stunning views from every vantage point.

QT Newcastle is the cornerstone of Iris Capital’s A $ 700 million East End revitalization and QT Hotels and Resorts Group Managing Director Callum Kennedy said the property would be absolutely stunning.

“We look forward to being part of Newcastle’s resurgence and welcoming the community as part of our own,” he said. “QT Newcastle will live and breathe with the same energy and drive that guests love in the world of QT.

“The hotel will be supported by the luxurious quirk of QT, from design to exclusive service. It will be unlike anything the local hotel market has seen before.

Longtime QT collaborator and designer Nic Graham, working with the design team at EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment, hosted a stay to celebrate the outskirts of town, creating a transformative escape for every guest.

“Take inspiration from the elements; earth, water and light, Graham refracted a visual feast, ”Kennedy said.

“Guests will be delighted to reference the changing hues of Newcastle’s coastline across all touchpoints, while sweeping views of the harbor, Christ Church Cathedral and beyond the Pacific are framed by the rejuvenated heritage windows of the floor to ceiling. ”

Graham said QT Newcastle was an exciting project to participate in.

“We reinvigorated an iconic heritage building, respecting and maintaining the raw shell and layering contemporary life on it,” he said. “It’s a nice reminder of the human spirit, that we all came from something.

“We have created a cocooning interior through blocks of colors and juxtaposed textures, which evoke the history of Newcastle.

QT Newcastle will join QT Sydney and QT Bondi as properties of the chain’s network in New South Wales.
