Councilor Baseer Khan inspects ongoing work on transit accommodation camps in Wandhama Ganderbal, Odina Bandipora


Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Wandhama Ganderbal and the village of Odina in the Bandipora district to inspect the work underway on the transit accommodation camps in these areas, in addition to taking stock on various other development work underway in these areas.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Kritika Jyotsina in Wandhama, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad and DDC member Tahir-ul-Qadri in Odina, Chief Engineer R&B, Executive Engineers, AEE and other senior officers from both districts in their respective regions. districts.

During his visit to the site of the transit housing in Wandhma Ganderbal, the advisor assessed the progress of the work carried out there. The R&B chief engineer briefed the advisor on the progress of work on the project and discussed the plan for the layout of the transit accommodation. He was informed that the project which includes 12 towers with 192 apartments with a total area of ​​30 Kanal had been approved for an amount of Rs. 23 crore. The councilor was further informed that the RCC structure is completed in all apartments, in addition to structural steel trusses are also completed in two blocks and that brickwork in the frames is underway.

The advisor also reviewed the site layout plan for related works which include a two-story shopping arcade, two-story community hall, perimeter wall, access road, security bunker and a Watchtower. The advisor gave on-site instructions for the prompt submission of the DPR of this work and urged the chief engineer to step up the pace of the work so that the project was completed on time.

Agents at the Odina transit accommodation site informed the advisor that transit accommodation will cost Rs 57.60 crore comprising 480 apartments in 30 blocks. They said that each block is four stories with four apartments in each floor thus totaling up to 16 apartments in a block. The structure is an RCC frame structure with an elevator device provided. Masonry to be provided for exterior and interior walls with wooden frames and shutters. The steel roof trusses are to be supplied with color coated CGI sheets, officers informed.

The advisor made a detailed inventory of the Odina site and asked the agents to speed up the work in order to meet the deadlines. He insisted on maintaining the quality of the work throughout the project.

The adviser also inspected various development works undertaken by the rural development department in the two districts. The advisor asked the RDD to make the best use of the remaining working season so that the ongoing public welfare and development works are completed before the start of the winter season. He said special emphasis should be placed on works that are properly reflected in already prepared annual plans and job-generating works so that people have meaningful livelihood opportunities in their own areas. The Councilor asked RDD agents to take care of the development of playgrounds, flood protection and other works in convergence mode as indicated in the meetings held in this regard.

The advisor interacted with the DDCs, BDCs and PRI in Manasbal and urged them to come forward and spread the message on Covid-related SOPs and motivate people for vaccination in their respective areas. He said the war on Covid infection was not yet over and to tackle the looming threat of the 3rd wave of covid-19, he called on people to strictly follow appropriate Covid behavior because the next 100 days are crucial.

Meanwhile, the DDCs, DBCs and PRI also raised several issues of public importance and sought redress for their claims.

The adviser, while answering questions, said that all possible initiatives are being taken to streamline the system of public service delivery and that the government is committed to ensuring that better services are available at the doorstep of the population, a- he added.

The advisor said that the UT administration is committed to improving the power scenario across UT and if there is a demand for upgrading the power supply, such as replacement of damaged poles and wires, the same request should be brought to the attention of the district. Responding to one of the inquiries regarding the development of the playgrounds, the councilor asked the district administration to identify the grounds and asked the PRI to assist the district administration in the process so that the grounds games are developed in their respective villages.

The advisor also interacted with DDC members and representatives of Panchayat Raj (PRI) institutions in Bandipora, who also briefed the advisor on various development issues. Councilor Khan has ensured all possible government assistance to meet development needs. He said that the PRI, by virtue of devolution of powers, has a very important role to play in oversight, decision making and formulation of plans. He added that the PRI acts as a bridge between the government and the public and that the pace of development has accelerated in all sectors.
