City of Amarillo to host Barfield PACE forum to educate community on program | KAMR



AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR / KCIT) – The City of Amarillo has invited the community to find out how the Texas Pace Authority can help homeowners. The city is hosting the Amarillo Barfield PACE Forum on Thursday, October 21 from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm at the Barfield Hotel located at 600 S. Polk Street.

In a press release, the city said that “the Barfield Hotel is a prime example of how the Amarillo PACE program is a valuable tool for property owners.” PACE, which stands for Property Assessed Clean Energy, is a program that encourages homeowners to help improve infrastructure with little or no down payment.

State law approved the PACE program which was also implemented by local governments, including Amarillo.

Through the program, homeowners can reduce operating costs and use the money saved on “eligible water conservation, energy, efficiency, resilience and decentralized generation projects,” the said. city. PACE also gives homeowners access to long-term financing options (typically 10 to 20 years) that are generally not available through traditional financing options, depending on the city.
